A Point out the four scenes. Ask different students to say what id happening in each picture.
B Ask students to circle the pictures where they would feel comfortable starting a conversation.
C Ask students to think of where they would talk with people they don’t know.

A Point out the four pictures. Then read the instructions.
B Play the recording the first time. Ss only listen.
C Play the second time. Write the number of each conversation in the box next to the correct picture.

A Points out the sample answer. Explain that the U means that conversation 1 is an unsuccessful conversation.
B Play the recording the first time. Ss only listen.
C Play the recording a second time. Ss write S in front of the successful small talk conversations, and U in front of the unsuccessful conversation.
Step3、2b
A Let Ss make a conversation using the sentences lettered a-g.
B Ask Ss to read the lines of the conversation to the class.
C Listen to the radio and write down the letter of each line of conversation in the correct place.
D Listen again and fill in the blank.
